This is a video I produced in 2003. Luna (a solitary cetacean) died at age 6 when he was struck by a boat propeller in March of 2006. In 2008 several of the southern resident orcas (Luna’s family) disappeared, scientists suggest starvation and pollution are the main causes. Luna’s mother Splash L67 and younger brother Aurora L101 are part of the group that has gone missing. Luna’s dramatic life ended up becoming a foreshadow of his family’s plight. Now, with his mother and brother gone, we are again reminded of the issues that plaque the lives of these magnificent beings. Global pressures are bearing down on all life on this planet…
